Unless otherwise stated above, this kitten/cat is intended to be a household pet. Neutering or spaying is REQUIRED between four (4) months of age and no later than seven (7) months of age. The Buyer agrees not to allow this kitten/cat to produce offspring. Registration papers will be held until the Buyer has provided the Seller with a valid statement as proof of spay/neuter signed by a licensed veterinarian. The Seller agrees to sign this kitten/cat’s registration papers over to the Buyer within 30 days of receipt of all the appropriate documentation. If neutering or spaying does not occur between four (4) months of age and no later than seven (7) months of age, registration papers will be withheld.
The Buyer agrees to provide proper housing and diet, fresh water, parasite control, and general health care, including the completion of immunizations plus yearly boosters and prompt veterinary care for any illness or condition requiring medication or surgery. The kitten/cat is to be kept inside. This kitten/cat is not to be declawed.
The Buyer agrees that this cat will at no time be sold, leased or transferred to any pet shop, animal dealer, animal research facility, animal shelter, nor anyone who has ever been convicted of neglect of or cruelty to any human or animal, nor should it be abandoned. It is the intention of the Seller that this is a permanent placement. If at any time the Buyer becomes unable to keep this cat, Seller is given the right of first refusal. If Seller does not reclaim the cat, it is the responsibility of the Buyer to place the cat in an excellent pet home that meets the same conditions as stated in this contract.
This kitten/cat is guaranteed against congenital defects for one year from date of birth. Should the animal die within that time as a direct result of a congenital defect, the kitten/cat will be replaced ONLY if an appropriate necropsy is performed by a licensed veterinarian, a veterinarian's certificate is provided as proof of cause of death, a copy of the health and shot records for the kitten/cat are provided and the Buyer provides this information within 14 days from the date of death at the expense of the Buyer. A replacement will be made of a kitten/cat of comparable quality and value, as available, at the discretion of the Seller. No cash refunds.
The Buyer is encouraged to have the kitten/cat checked by a veterinarian of the Buyer’s own preference within 72 hours from the date of sale. This guarantee shall be null and void if the Buyer fails to have the kitten/cat examined by a duly licensed veterinarian within a 72 hour period from date of sale. It is recommended that the new kitten/cat be quarantined during that 72 hour period. The kitten/cat can not be returned for compensation after the guaranteed period has expired and/or it has been exposed to another cat. The Seller will not honor any health guarantee if the kitten/cat dies of a virus from contact with another animal not bred at this Cattery. The Buyer agrees to provide immediate veterinary care to this kitten/cat if it shows signs of distress, illness, or injury. Failure to do so will render the guarantee null and void. The Seller will not be responsible for any veterinary bills of this kitten/cat after leaving the Seller's residence.
The Seller does not immunize the kitten/cat for FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) or FeLV (feline leukemia virus) prior to sale, as we understand that these vaccines can depress the immune system of healthy kittens/cats. If the Buyer immunizes the kitten/cat for FIP or FeLV the guarantee shall become null and void. The Buyer bears sole responsibility for informing the Buyer’s veterinarian not to administer these vaccines.
The Buyer understands that if the kitten/cat is declawed, it will render the guarantee null and void. The Buyer understands that this Cattery considers declawing as a mutilation involving the amputation of a large portion of the kitten/cat's toes and which is likely to alter the kitten/cat's temperament and health. The Buyer agrees that the Seller cannot insure the temperament or health of any kitten/cat which has been declawed. The Buyer agrees that this kitten/cat was sold with the understanding that it would not be declawed.
In signing this document the Buyer acknowledges that he/she has read and understands the terms herein, and that the Buyer agrees to all of the terms and conditions of the above sale.
